Belltown Research

  • Originally settled by William Nathaniel Bell, whose family members many of the streets in the area are named after.

  • Turned into Seattle’s ”Film Row” in the 1920s, when the increased amount of movie theaters caused concern over the flammability of the film strips.

  • Many buildings in the area are original from the 1920s film house era.

  • Most walkable neighborhood in Seattle, as well as the most populated.

  • Now known for its bars and restaurants, and its numerous venues that house live music venues – most notably The Crocodile (and its associated clubs, Madame Lou’s and Here-After).

  • Hosts a graffiti art festival
